Storage Junction FAQs
Storage Junction is located at 1032 Williams Road in Genoa City, Wisconsin 53128 — right at the Wisconsin/Illinois state line, just east of Route 12. You'll find us up the street from the Genoa City Travel Center (Mobil station) and Herner's Hideaway, directly across from Rock Solid. We're ideally positioned between Lake Geneva, Twin Lakes, McHenry, and Delavan, making us one of the most conveniently accessed storage facilities in Walworth County.
Our location in Genoa City makes us a convenient choice for residents and businesses in Genoa City, Twin Lakes, Powers Lake, Lake Geneva, Delavan, Elkhorn, Burlington, and the Illinois communities of Richmond, Spring Grove, and McHenry. Our location just off Route 12 makes us easy to reach from both sides of the state line with no tolls. With Lake Geneva, Chain O' Lakes, Powers Lake, and Twin Lakes all within a short drive, Storage Junction is ideally positioned for out-of-area owners who want their boat, RV, or trailer stored close to where the adventure begins — not in their driveway 40 miles away.
Storage Junction offers 24/7 gated access, 365 days a year — including holidays. There are no restricted hours, so you can access your belongings at any time of day or night. Our coded gate entry ensures only current customers can enter the facility.
Our office is open for calls and inquiries from 8:00AM to 10:00PM, every day. Our friendly team is always happy to provide assistance! If you prefer, you can also text us at (855) 229-7142 If you don't get an immediate answer, voicemail is continuously monitored.
Yes. Our climate-controlled units are maintained year-round. In summer, units are air-conditioned and humidity-controlled to protect sensitive belongings from heat and moisture. In winter, units are heated to approximately 60°F to prevent freezing and condensation damage. Climate-controlled storage is ideal for wooden furniture, electronics, musical instruments, wine, artwork, clothing, business documents, and other items that can be damaged by extreme temperatures.
Yes. Security is one of our top priorities. The facility features electronic gated entry with personalized access codes for every tenant, 24/7 video surveillance cameras monitoring the entire property, well-lit drive aisles and hallways, and a perimeter fence. Every entry and exit is logged automatically. We designed the facility from the ground up with safety in mind, and our cameras record continuously so we have a complete record of all activity.
Larger storage units at Storage Junction — particularly the RV and boat storage units — include interior lighting, which is especially helpful when maneuvering large vehicles inside. All driveways and hallways throughout the facility are also well-lit. Several units also include optional electrical outlets, making it easy to plug in battery tenders or chargers for your stored vehicle.
Yes, Storage Junction periodically offers move-in specials and promotions. The best way to see current offers is to check on our website or call us at (855) 229-7142.
No long-term commitment is required. Storage Junction rents on a simple month-to-month basis. You can move in for as little as one month, stay as long as you need, and move out at any time with proper notice. There are no cancellation fees and no penalties for ending your rental.
Absolutely. Storage Junction is designed with wide concrete drive aisles and large overhead doors, allowing for easy maneuvering of RVs, boats, and commercial vehicles.
No. Storage Junction does not charge administrative fees, setup fees, or security deposits. The price you see when you reserve your unit online is the price you pay. Most units are also tax-free. We believe in transparent, straightforward pricing — no surprises on your first bill.
Most boat owners in southeast Wisconsin pull their boats from the water and into storage between mid-September and late October — typically before the first hard freeze and once daytime temperatures consistently drop below 50°F. Waiting too long risks engine and plumbing damage from freezing water, while storing earlier protects gel coats, electronics, and upholstery from end-of-season UV and moisture damage. Before storing, run through a basic winterization checklist: fuel stabilizer, engine fogging, antifreeze in the cooling system, a battery disconnect or trickle charger, and a fresh interior cleaning to discourage pests.Storage Junction offers outdoor parking, standard indoor bays, and heated indoor units — each option works well for winter, and the right fit depends on your boat, your budget, and how much weather protection you want. Outdoor and standard indoor are popular, cost-effective choices for most owners, while heated indoor is the right call for classic boats and anything with sensitive finishes or electronics. Because indoor and heated space is limited, we recommend contacting us by late summer — call or text (855) 229-7142 to check availability.
Yes — many of our customers store their boats with us year-round to stay closer to the water. Genoa City puts you within a 10–15 minute drive of Lake Geneva, Twin Lakes, Powers Lake, and the Chain O' Lakes, so keeping your boat at Storage Junction means a quick run to the launch when you're ready to go out — instead of an hour-plus round trip towing from home in the Chicago, Milwaukee, or Madison areas. It also means your trailer and rig aren't taking up space in your driveway during the season. We rent month-to-month, so you can keep your space all year or just during the months you're actively boating, and outdoor parking is the most affordable option for active-season storage. Call or text (855) 229-7142 to ask about summer or year-round availability.
Storage rates at Storage Junction depend on three main factors: unit size, whether the unit is climate-controlled or standard drive-up, and — for vehicle storage — whether the space is indoor or outdoor. Larger units, climate control, indoor RV and boat bays, and units with electrical outlets all cost more than smaller, standard, or outdoor options. Because availability and rates shift throughout the year, the most accurate way to see what's open right now is to visit storagejunction.com and check the "Available Units" tab — every available unit is listed with live pricing. We don't charge admin fees, security deposits, or setup costs, so the price you see when you reserve is the price you pay. Many units are also tax-free, and we run move-in specials periodically. If you'd like help picking the right size for your needs or want to ask about current promotions, call or text (855) 229-7142 and a local team member will walk you through availability.
Yes. Storage Junction is a great fit for contractors, e-commerce sellers, landscapers, real estate stagers, and small-business owners who need a clean, secure space for inventory, equipment, tools, seasonal stock, or document archives. Our wide concrete drive aisles accommodate work trucks and trailers, drive-up units make loading fast, and 24/7 gated access means you can grab what you need on your schedule — early mornings, late nights, weekends, or holidays. Many of our business customers also use our electrical outlets for charging equipment between job sites.
Storage Junction doesn't take long-range reservations — units are released as they become available. For standard drive-up and climate-controlled units, same-day or next-day move-in is usually possible: just visit storagejunction.com, check the "Available Units" tab for live pricing, and complete your digital move-in in a few minutes.
For limited inventory — heated indoor RV bays, larger indoor boat units, and oversized vehicle storage — demand typically outpaces supply in early fall (September–October) and again in late spring (April–May). If you don't see the size you need listed as available, call or text us at (855) 229-7142 to be added to our availability queue. We'll reach out as soon as a matching unit opens up.
Yes — if your needs change, you can transfer to a larger or smaller unit as long as one is available. There are no transfer penalties; you simply pay the prorated rate for the new space. Some customers start with a 10x10 and upsize after realizing they have more to store, while others downsize after a move or decluttering project. Call or text (855) 229-7142 and our team will walk through current availability and help you make the switch.
Absolutely — Storage Junction is a popular choice for snowbirds and seasonal customers who spend part of the year away from southeast Wisconsin. Many of our customers store classic cars, motorcycles, boats, motorhomes, lake-house furniture, and patio equipment with us during the off-season. With 24/7 gated access, optional electrical outlets for battery tenders, climate-controlled options for sensitive items, and month-to-month leases, you can store for exactly the months you're away and step right back into your space when you return.
Absolutely. While move-in, gate access, billing, and account management are all available 24/7 through your online account, a real local team member is also reachable by phone or text at (855) 229-7142 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, seven days a week. When you call, you reach a Storage Junction team member — not an outsourced call center — so whether you have a quick question, want help picking the right unit size, or just prefer talking things through with someone local, we're glad to help.
You can reserve or move into a storage unit 2 ways: (1) Online — visit storagejunction.com, select a unit under 'Available Units,' and complete your move-in digitally in just a few minutes. This option works best on a computer or tablet. (2) By phone or text — call or text (855) 229-7142 and a local Storage Junction manager will walk you through available units and help you get started.
- Standard drive-up units — for everyday household and business storage.
- Climate-controlled units — heated in winter and air-conditioned in summer; ideal for furniture, electronics, documents, and other temperature-sensitive items.
- Indoor storage for RVs, boats, motorhomes, and collector cars — with wide concrete drive aisles and overhead doors up to 14 feet tall.
- Outdoor storage — for RVs, boats, trailers, and passenger vehicles.
Choosing the right size depends on what you're storing. As a general guide: a 5x10 unit fits the contents of a small bedroom or closet; a 10x10 holds a one-bedroom apartment worth of furniture; a 10x20 can handle a two- to three-bedroom home; and our larger units accommodate commercial equipment, vehicles, and oversized items. If you're unsure, our team is happy to help you choose — just call or text (855) 229-7142. You can also visit our Size Guide on the website for a visual comparison.
Yes. Storage Junction was purpose-built to accommodate large recreational vehicles. Our indoor RV storage units feature overhead doors up to 14 feet tall and wide concrete drive aisles to make maneuvering easy. We can accommodate Class A and Class C motorhomes, fifth-wheel trailers, toy haulers, travel trailers, and other large recreational vehicles. Many of our RV units also include electrical outlets to keep your batteries maintained between trips.
To determine the right space for your RV, boat, or trailer, you need the total length of the vehicle including its hitch, tongue, spare tire, motor, and any rear-mounted accessories. For example, if your boat is 22 feet long but the trailer with the tongue measures 28 feet, you'll need at least a 28- to 30-foot space. Storage Junction offers units with doors up to 14 feet tall, accommodating Class A and Class C motorhomes, fifth wheels, pontoon boats on trailers, and most standard campers.
Yes — Storage Junction offers two types of car storage:
- Enclosed drive-up units — for everyday vehicles, work trucks, and seasonal cars. Pull right up to the door for easy loading.
- Climate-controlled units — for collector cars, classics, and any vehicle with finishes, electronics, or upholstery that don't hold up to Wisconsin's temperature and humidity swings.
Many car storage units include electrical outlets so you can connect a battery tender or trickle charger and keep your vehicle ready to drive after months in storage. Every unit features 24/7 secure gate access, video surveillance, and wide concrete drive aisles — whether you're storing a daily driver for snowbird season or protecting a restored classic year-round.
A drive-up storage unit allows you to pull your car, truck, or moving vehicle directly to the door of your unit — no stairs, elevators, or long hallways required. This makes loading and unloading significantly faster and easier. At Storage Junction, our drive aisles are paved in concrete and range from 30 to 55 feet wide, giving you plenty of room to maneuver even with a full-size moving truck or trailer.
We strongly recommend keeping your stored belongings insured. Many homeowner's and renter's insurance policies automatically extend coverage to off-site storage — check your policy or call your insurance agent to confirm. If you don't have existing coverage or would like a separate policy, Storage Junction offers basic storage insurance starting at just $10 per month with no deductible. You can add this protection when you complete your move-in online or over the phone.
Yes, many units at Storage Junction include available electrical outlets. This is particularly valuable for tenants storing vehicles, boats, RVs, and equipment — the outlet allows you to connect a battery tender or trickle charger to keep batteries in good condition during long-term storage. If electrical access is important to you, let our team know when you're selecting a unit and we'll make sure to match you with one that has power available.
You can pay your storage bill online through the Storage Junction website, by phone, or in person. Accepted payment methods include credit card, debit card, personal check, ACH bank transfer, and Zelle. Setting up autopay through your online tenant account is easy and ensures you're never charged a late fee. Online account access is available 24/7 at storagejunction.com
You can pull your RV out anytime — Storage Junction offers 24/7 gated access, 365 days a year, so the timing is entirely up to you. That said, most owners in southeast Wisconsin wait until mid-April through mid-May to start actively using their RV, once nighttime temperatures consistently stay above freezing and the risk of late-season frost has passed. Many customers time their first pickup to be ready for Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of camping season. Before your first trip, plan to de-winterize: flush the antifreeze from your water system, sanitize the fresh-water tank, inspect tires for flat-spotting and check pressure (Storage Junction has a free air station on site), test all appliances and electrical systems, and replace or recharge batteries if they weren't on a trickle charger over the winter. If you stored at Storage Junction with electrical outlets, your batteries should be ready to go — just punch in your gate code anytime.
You'll need a lock to secure your unit, but you don't need to bring one with you. Storage Junction has high-security disc locks available for your convenience — these are more pick- and bolt-cutter-resistant than standard hardware-store padlocks, which is why most modern storage facilities recommend them. If you'd prefer to bring your own, that's fine; just make sure it fits the latch on your unit type, and we can confirm the right style when you book. Whatever lock you choose, only you keep the key — Storage Junction does not retain copies of tenant locks.
Standard (drive-up) units sit at outside temperature year-round, while climate-controlled units are heated in winter — we keep ours at approximately 60°F — and air-conditioned and humidity-managed in summer. Standard units are the right choice for items that aren't temperature-sensitive: most tools, patio furniture, outdoor equipment, plastic bins of clothing, holiday décor. They're typically the less expensive option. Climate-controlled units are the better choice for anything that can warp, crack, mildew, corrode, or short out: wood and leather furniture, electronics, musical instruments, artwork, photographs, important documents, business inventory, and collector items. In southeast Wisconsin, temperatures can swing from -10°F in winter to 90°F+ in summer, so when in doubt, climate-controlled is the safer bet.
Our local team is here to help. Call or text us at (855) 229-7142 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, seven days a week. You can also reach us through the Contact page at storagejunction.com. When you call, you'll reach a Storage Junction team member — not an outsourced call center.
Yes — Storage Junction is one of the closest secure storage facilities to Lake Geneva, located just minutes south in Genoa City, WI right at the state line. We're roughly a 10–15 minute drive for Lake Geneva, Fontana, Williams Bay, and Linn Township residents, and we serve the full Geneva Lake area with indoor and outdoor RV & boat storage near Lake Geneva, climate-controlled units, and standard drive-up storage. Because we're positioned just off Route 12 with no tolls, we're also a short drive for boat and RV owners coming up from northern Illinois.
Yes — many of our customers live in northern Illinois and choose Storage Junction specifically because we're right at the Wisconsin/Illinois state line with no tolls and a straight shot up Route 12. We're a short drive for Richmond, Spring Grove, Antioch, McHenry, and the greater Chicago metro, and storing your boat or RV here means you're already minutes from Lake Geneva, Powers Lake, and Twin Lakes when you're ready to head out — no towing it up from home.
For the safety of our customers and facility, the following items are prohibited in any storage unit: flammable liquids (gasoline, propane, kerosene, lighter fluid), explosives or ammunition, hazardous chemicals, live plants or animals, perishable food, illegal substances, stolen property, and anything that produces strong odors or attracts pests. Firearms themselves are not prohibited if legally owned and properly secured, but ammunition must be stored elsewhere. If you're unsure whether something is allowed, call or text us at (855) 229-7142 before move-in.
Yes — students at UW-Whitewater, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Parkside, Carthage College, Marquette, and universities in northern Illinois often store their dorm and apartment belongings with us between semesters. A 5x10 unit comfortably holds a dorm room's worth of furniture, books, and seasonal clothes; a 10x10 fits most apartment moves. Month-to-month leases mean you only pay for the months you need, and our online move-in process is quick enough to handle between finals and the drive home.
For long-term car storage, we recommend: changing the oil if it's been a while, inflating tires to the upper end of spec to reduce flat-spotting, connecting a battery tender or trickle charger (many of our units include an electrical outlet for this), placing a breathable cover over the vehicle if storing in a standard unit, and leaving a baking-soda box or two inside the cabin to absorb odors. Climate-controlled storage is worth considering for classics, collector cars, vehicles with sensitive electronics, and anything you'd rather not expose to Wisconsin's temperature and humidity swings. For the full list of available units, visit our RV & boat storage near Lake Geneva page or storagejunction.com.
